UNBC Bioenergy plant
To learn how biofuels are used to create heat and energy and
specifically how the gassification process in the UNBC plant works. To
learn something of the technology being used to control emissions from
the UNBC bioenergy gassification plant. Additionally, to learn
something of how UNBC buildings are heated, in terms of how air is
exchanged in rooms, how air humidity and CO2 are controlled and
monitored.
Document the field trip to the bioenergy plant by writing a report, to be handed
in at the start of next week's lab. Your report should:
- be typewritten,
- include a statement of the trip's objectives;
- describe briefly the process used to generate heat at the plant;
- include a description of the control technology shown and discussed;
- include an assessment based on information during the trip and
class notes / readings on the effectiveness of air pollution
controls shown.
- discuss how air is heated and exchanged in campus rooms
- discuss how humidity and CO2 are monitored and controlled
Your comments are appreciated
If you wish to make comments, fill this out and give it to the
instructor, anonymously if desired.
- Did this field trip meet its objectives? Did you learn something
from it?
- Were the written / verbal instructions clear? (If not, can you
suggest a way to improve them?)
- Was the field trip too long? short?
- Can you suggest ways of improving the field trip? Other comments
