Field Trip 4: Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable

Members of PGAIR will be coming to UNBC during our lab time from 3-4pm in room 8-129 on Monday March 18, 2019.

Introduction

The PGAIR (formerly PGAQIC) has been in operation since September 2002. It was originally formed as a result of the Prince George Airshed Management Plan - Phase I, that was completed by a committee between 1995 and 1999, and became a roundtable in response to a recommendation of the Mayor's Air Quality Improvement Task Force. The management plan resulted in a number of actions, including the writing of a City of PG Clean Air Bylaw, and the formation of a series of committees to implement the plan and the creation and implementation of Phase II.

Objectives:

To learn how PGAIR manages air quality in Prince George. There is a wide range of expertise and interest amongst the committee members. Is this the optimal way to manage Air Quality in Prince George? Summarize how PGAIR functions. What are the strengthts and weaknesses of this approach?
