During the first lab, students will form Presentation Groups of 2-3 people. Once during the term, each Presentation Group will present the solutions of the previous week's lab to the rest of the class during the first 20 minutes of the lab.
The Group making the presentation will need to work together, and decide how to prepare and present their material (what graphics/text/other visual aids to use; who will speak and when, etc.) A perfect presentation is awarded 5 marks. The following evaluation sheet indicates a breakdown of the marks and how the presentation is evaluated. As part of the presentation, each student must complete an evaluation of their own and each of their group member's teamwork habits on the following Teamwork Evaluation form. Any non-participating group member will receive zero for the entire assignment.
The Presentation Group must meet with their Lab Instructor in advance of their presentation to ensure content accuracy and presentation appropriateness. Marks will be deducted for not doing this.
The main objective of any presentation is to clearly communicate information to your audience. This means you must know your audience; be clear and to the point; and cover the relevant information well. Any content, visual aids, communication strategies (jokes, gestures, use of voice, appearance, and audience interaction) or technical aids should enhance your message. Presenting information in a variety of ways helps communicate it to everyone (but watch being too repetitive). Structured and organized presentations are easier to follow and allow the audience to concentrate on the information rather than how it was presented. Most follow this type of format:
Be careful of having too much or too little material. Fully use the allotted time but allow time for questions and answers either throughout the presentation or at its end.

As part of the presentation, each student must complete an individual evaluation of their own and other group member's teamwork habits. A complete evaluation consists of a numerical grade and reasons/comments that account for that grade. Once turned in, the completed information is confidential and is seen only by your lab instructor and the course instructor.
Consider the following points as you grade/comment on the teamwork habits for each individual in your group:
1 | = | excellent | |
0.75 | = | mostly good (small difficulties)
0.50 | = | satisfactory (some good some needs more work)
0.25 | = | unsatisfactory (major difficulties)
0 | = | failure |
